Sgt. Edward Oryll, a tank mechanic with the 750th Tank Battalion, pictured here died March 3, 1945 saving the life of a fellow Soldier and friend, bringing great credit to himself, the 750th Tank Battalion and the U.S. Army. Oryll was awarded five medals to include: the Purple Heart, Bronze Star Army Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal posthumously during the ceremony March 9 at ASA-Dix Headquarters. Hundreds of servicemembers and their excited children wait outside the Timmerman Center here Jan. 11, in anticipation of seeing the “iCarly” cast and an exclusive screening of their newest episode.
