David McGee, of the Joint Base Recycling Center, readies the cans for recycling here. After the recycling process is complete the steel cans will command 10 cents per pound with the aluminum cans valued at 53 cents per pound. The proceeds from the recycled items are returned to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst to defray the costs of the recycling program. JB MDL Quilts for Kids JB MDL Quilts for Kids
JB MDL Quilts for Kids

Army Col. Joseph Whitlock, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst deputy commander, and Air Force Col. Chris Luedtke, 87th Mission Support Group commander, stopped by the Arts and Crafts Center April 14 to show their appreciation and to coin the JB MDL volunteers of Quilts for Kids. The group of approximately 15 volunteers has produced 832 quilts since 2004 for children with life-threatening illnesses and victims of abuse. The group meets at the Arts and Crafts Center on the second Tuesday of every month to gather material, discuss ideas and plan projects they work on during the next month.
