multinational C-17 refueling
With Swedish and U.S. Air Force pilots in the cockpit, the first C-17 Globemaster III to belong to a 12-nation strategic airlift initiative approaches a Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst tanker to receive 65,000 pounds of fuel in flight over the Atlantic Ocean July 17, courtesy of a 32nd Air Refueling Squadron crew. Despite the KC-10 crew's jokes that boom operator Master Sgt. Jody Riggs might "leave his mark" on the new C-17, the refueling went smoothly and enabled the aircraft to reach its destination - Pápa Air Base, Hungary. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Danielle Johnson)

Refueling warriors: 2nd ARS brings McGuire KC-10s to the fight
McGuire’s 2nd Air Refueling Squadron flies the KC-10A Extender, like the one pictured in this stock photo, in support of Strategic Command, Air Force-level global missions and local training flights. Most recently, the 2nd ARS has directly supported Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, delivering air-refueling support to numerous joint and coalition receiver aircraft. Most assets are typically dedicated to one theater, but the KC-10 has the ability to support both because of the high capacity of fuel it is able to carry. (U.S. Air Force photo/Denise Gould)
