Joint Base Beautification Day
JB MDL will host a Joint Base Beautification Day on April 22, 2014. All units are requested to clean and groom the exterior of their facilities, common areas, remove weeds, pick up trash and limbs, and rake flower beds. U.S. Army Reserve 106th Birthday 5K Commemorative Road March
The U.S. Army Support Activity-Dix is set to celebrate the 106th Birthday of the United States Army Reserve with a 5K Commemorative Road March beginning at 6:30 a.m. April 23, 2014, at the Doughboy Field Main Pavilion. The event is open to all service members and Department of Defense civilians. The road march will be followed by a celebration at 10 a.m. at the Reserve Forces Mobilization Museum, located at 6501 Pennsylvania Ave. The Army Reserve's mission, under Title 10 of the U.S. Code, is to provide trained, equipped, and ready Soldiers and cohesive units to meet the global requirements across the full spectrum of operations. The Army Reserve is a key element in the Army multi-component force, training with Active and National Guard units to ensure all three components work as a fully integrated team. Quarterly Joint Base Retreat Ceremony
A Quarterly Joint Base Retreat Ceremony is set from 3 to 4 p.m. April 24, 2014, at Sharpe Field, located between Scott Plaza and Alabama Ave. Service members participating in the ceremony are required to be present no later than 3:30 p.m. Ceremony will begin at 3:45 and is scheduled to end at approximately 4:30. The event is open to all Department of Defense ID cardholders.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day
The Army Substance Abuse Program is set to host the 'National Prescription Drug Take Back Day' from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 26, 2014, at the Base/Post Exchange, located at 3425 Broidy Road and at Tommy B's Community Activities Center, located at 2705 East Arnold Ave. Turn in unused or expired medication for safe disposal. Liquid medications should have a secure closed top. No needles or syringes will be accepted. Call 562-4011 or 562-2086 for more information.

Travis: A Soldier's Story
The 174th Infantry Brigade is set to host three separate, one-hour showings of the movie, 'Travis: A Soldier's Story' at 10 a.m., 1 or 6 p.m. April 24, 2014, at the Timmermann Theater, located at 5441 Eighth St. The showing is free to all Department of Defense ID cardholders. Movie is rated: PG-13.

JB MDL Earth Day Event
The Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Earth Day event is set from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 26, 2014, at Laurel Pond Recreation Area, located on 10th Street. Enjoy educational exhibits from local nature centers and nonprofits, canoeing, hikes, wild animals, crafts, puppet show and more. Event is open to all Department of Defense ID cardholders. Visitors to the joint base are required to register by April 14, 2014. Visit to register.

Day of Remembrance

The Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Special Observance Committee is set to host a 'Day of Remembrance' event from 10 to 11 a.m. April 29, 2014, at Tommy B's Community Activities Center, located at 2705 East Arnold Ave. Opening remarks will be provided by Col. JB MDL 2014 National Prayer Breakfast

The 87th Air Base Wing Chapel Program is set to host a National Prayer Breakfast at 8 a.m. May 1, 2014, at Tommy B's Community Activities Center, located at 2705 East Arnold Ave. Guest speaker will be Maj. Gen. Frederick H. Martin, commander, U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center. The cost is $5 and can be purchased from unit first sergeant or chapel. 2nd Brigade Raider Competition
The 2nd Brigade Cadet Command is set to host a Raider Competition from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 10, 2014, at the Leader Reaction Course, located on Pointsville Road. The event will pit Junior ROTC teams against one another in a competition of physically and mentally challenging activities that test teamwork and leadership. Call 562-3762 for more information.

Baby and Toddler Expo
The 87th Medical Group is set to host a Baby and Toddler Expo from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 29, 2014, at Tommy B's Community Activities Center, located at 2705 East Arnold Ave. The expo is open to all Department of Defense ID cardholders and will feature more than 40 vendors. HAWC Family Fest
The 87th Medical Group is set to host a Family Fest from 5 to 7 p.m. July 14, 2014, at the Health and Wellness Center, located at 2504 McGuire Blvd. Each family will prepare a healthy meal and exercise together with the registered dietitian. Need a will or power of attorney
The 87th Air Base Wing Judge Advocate Office is offering legal assistance for service members in need of a power of attorney or will. Interested service members should visit and complete the appropriate legal worksheet. Completed worksheets generate a ticket number required for scheduling an appointment. 915th Contingency Contracting Battalion

JB MDL Spouses' Club Thrift Shop

Navy Marine Corps Relief Society Thrift Store
The Navy Marine Corps Relief Society Thrift Store is open every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday 9 a.m. to noon and Thursday 1-5 p.m. at 158 Berry Road. The sales income received from thrift shops is returned to the Sailors, Marines and their families in the form of emergency financial relief services. Donations after hours may be placed in the donation locker located by the front door. Opportunities are available for volunteers to sort merchandise, arrange displays and work as cashiers. 87th LRS Customer Service and Equipment Accountability Service
Individuals with inquiries regarding supply customer service, stock control and overpricing program assistance should call 754-3306/1381. Walk-in hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at 1757 West Arnold Ave., Room 166. Call 754-5154/4454 for supply parts issue requests/aircraft parts store requests. Neighborhood Community Watch Meetings
The joint base community is set to hold a meeting for the neighborhood community watch program from 7 to 8 p.m. every second Tuesday of the month in Falcons Court North. The meeting is intended to inform community members on how they can help protect the community by taking part in neighborhood watches and patrols. Call 723-6563 for more information.

Firehouse Movie Night
A movie night is scheduled for 8 p.m. every second Friday of the month at The Airmen's Firehouse on McGuire. This event is open to all E-1s through E-4. Free popcorn and beverages will be available. Call 754-2233 for more information.

Crafty Birthday Parties
The Arts and Crafts center offers a chance for community members to host birthday parties at the center. Parties include two hours of party room use and one craft project with an instructor and all materials. Choose from a ceramic painting or plush animals parties. Call 562-5691 for more information.

Home School Art Class
The Arts and Crafts Center offers a 10-week mixed media course for ages six and up. Five sessions of pottery and five sessions of fine arts are included. Call 562-5691 for more information.

International Spouses' Group
The International Spouses' Group assists foreign-born spouses with cultural adaptation. The group serves as the first stop, as well as ongoing support, for multicultural families. The group meets the last Friday of each month from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for planned social and educational activities. Call 754-3154 for more information.

Financial Readiness Program
The Financial Readiness Program assists service members and their families in improving personal financial status and their ability to perform as informed consumers. The program focuses on improving credit reliability and reducing debt. Available services include: complaint resolution, individual counseling, training classes, resource library, debt liquidation, budget development and planning. Call 754-3154 for more information.

Education and Training ABCs of College Briefing
An ABCs of College information session is set to be held every third Thursday of the month at 9 a.m. in the Education Center, 3829 School House Road., Falcon Courts North housing area Room 206. The briefing will provide information on how to choose a school and major, determine payment methods, plan for career success, register for upcoming classes and gain information about degree types. MPS Passport Appointments
The Military Personnel Section passport office will accept appointments only for official passport processing. Appointments are available from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fridays. Call 754-3826 to schedule an appointment. Tourist passports are not available at this location. Visit for tourist passport locations.

Passport pick-ups will continue to be handled on a walk-in basis during normal MPS customer service hours. As a reminder, customers assigned to the 6th Airlift Squadron, 621st Contingency Response Wing, 21st Expeditionary Mobility Task Force and the U.S. Army have separate passport agents in their units who are able to service their passport/Visa needs. Tuskegee Airmen Meetings
The Hannibal M. "Killer" Cox chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen Incorporation is set to host its monthly meeting at 5 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every month at the Firehouse Club on McGuire. Visit for more information.

History Tours at Lakehurst
The Navy Lakehurst Historical Society offers tours of historic Hangar One and the Hindenburg crash site at 10 a.m. every Wednesday and every second and fourth Saturday of the month. Call (732) 818-7520 for more information.

Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting
The Alcoholics Anonymous meeting is set to be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Tuesday at Range Control Headquarters on Dix. Alcoholics Anonymous is a 12-step support group whose only requirement is the desire to stop drinking. This meeting is an open meeting available to anyone who wants or needs to better understand alcoholism and its effects. There are no dues or fees, only the desire to live a life free from alcohol. From 87th Civil Engineer Squadron

Water Line Replacement
Water line replacement work is currently scheduled through end of April 2014, in the 5500 and 5600 area, between Willow Pond and the U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center, and between Doughboy Loop and Texas Avenue on Dix. Access to the sidewalk along Texas Avenue will be impacted during construction. During work in the shoulder of 8th Street, traffic may be restricted by construction crews in the area. Construction equipment and activities may limit access to interior roadways and parking lots intermittently during the work. No road closures are anticipated.

Thrift Store and Airmen's Attic Demolition
Demolition of the Thrift Store and Airmen's Attic, located at 3446 Broidy Road to include associated utilities and parking lot, is currently scheduled through May 15, 2014. The old ball room in Pudgy's located at 2508 East Third St. is being renovated to house the Thrift Store and Airmen's Attic.

Walson Army Hospital Demolition
Demolition of the Walson Army Hospital and associated facilities is expected to take approximately seven months. Detour around the site will continue through late 2014. New Jersey Avenue will be closed to all but local traffic between 4th Street and Summerall Avenue for the duration of the demolition and traffic will be routed around the site via N. Scott Plaza, Maryland Avenue and 8th Street. 4th Street between General's Circle and New Jersey Avenue will be closed for the duration of the work. Patrons of the golf course need to use additional caution when crossing Fort Dix Road and New Jersey Avenue due to increase traffic volumes on these roads.

Renovation of Taxiways Golf and Lima
Full depth renovation of taxiways Golf and Lima is scheduled from March 17 through Dec. 15, 2014. Renovation work includes paving, edge lights and storm drain improvements. A significant increase of truck traffic from checkpoint nine on Fort Dix Road, Broidy Road, and East and West Arnold Road is anticipated.

Green Waste Schedule and Policy
Green Waste pick up is Monday for
McGuire and Tuesday for Dix. Green
waste will not be picked up if it contains
trash, recycling, rocks, or dirt. 

Recycling Guidelines
Recycling materials must be placed
 at the curb by 6 a.m. biweekly on Thursday.
Do not place any paper or cardboard in
your recycling bin, trash can or plastic bag.
Paper can be placed in a brown bag,
bundled or placed in a low-lying box.
Shredded paper must be placed in a
paper bag or in a cardboard box.
Cardboard boxes must be flattened
and bundled. Cans, glass bottles and
plastics must be rinsed clean.
Do not flatten or place in plastic bags.
Labels can stay on but caps and lids
must be thrown away in the garbage.
